During the month of March we continued our zoo themed activities. I let the kids each pick their favorite zoo animals and then we focused on those animals - so we had a week of elephants and a week of leopards! The elephant week was easy - a little more difficult to find/create leopard themed activities - we adapted and added some other "big cats" that week! Then after a week of Spring Break, we celebrated Purim (Jewish festival to celebrate the deliverance of the Jews from Haman - story of Esther) during the last week of March. Our author for the month was Dr. Seuss! We used "If I Ran the Zoo" to tie him in to our zoo theme. We celebrated his birthday with a party at the library. (The children were quite distressed to learn that, not only would he not be attending the party, but he is actually deceased! :) ) We also read "Green Eggs and Ham" on St. Patrick's Day, and Daddy made us some! Mommy wasn't too crazy about them, but the kids bravely ate theirs!
